According to TMZ, Efron was hospitalized on Friday night following what his representative described as a minor swimming incident. He was found in a pool at an Ibiza villa and had to be pulled from the water. Efron was taken to the hospital as a precaution but was released the following morning. The exact cause of the incident remains unclear.
Earlier this week, Efron joined DJ Martin Garrix on stage at the Ushuaïa Ibiza Hotel and Beach Club, where he danced with Garrix during one of his songs, receiving a warm reception from the crowd.
The health scare came amid Efron’s European travels, which included attending the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. There, he supported his friend Simone Biles, who became the oldest U.S. women’s gymnast to win gold at 27.
Efron has had a busy year, with recent Netflix projects including A Family Affair, Ricky Stanicky, The Greatest Beer Run Ever, and The Iron Claw. He will also star in Famous, directed by Jody Hill for A24. Additionally, Efron is set to appear in the upcoming remake of the 1987 film Three Men and a Baby, which is still in preproduction.
