Physical Activity
“Physical activity is incredibly powerful for our brain,” she stated in a recent MasterClass series featuring neuroscientists and psychiatrists offering advice for a healthy brain.
Suzuki has a preferred workout routine she believes is especially beneficial for brain health: intenSati. “I got pulled back into exercise from couch potato land with this amazing form of workout. It’s called intenSati,” she told CNBC Make It. The name combines “intention” and the Pali word “Sati,” meaning mindfulness or awareness.
IntenSati, created by Patricia Moreno in 2002, integrates physical movement with vocal affirmations. According to its official website, “This workout pairs high-energy cardio moves with high-emotion mantras that will leave you uplifted, connected, and strong.”
Suzuki highlights the profound impact of verbal affirmations on mood and outlook. “If you shout out that you believe you will succeed, you are inspired, you are strong, for a whole hour with a whole bunch of other sweaty, affirmations-shouting people, you come out of that class feeling amazing,” she said.
