College football odds, picks, predictions, best bets for Week 4, 2022: Proven model likes USC, Texas

The Tennessee Vols have never been favored by more than a touchdown against the Florida Gators, but that is set to change when they square off on Saturday afternoon at Neyland Stadium. No. 11 Tennessee is a 10.5-point favorite in the latest Week 4 college football odds at Caesars Sportsbook, while the over/under is 62.5 for that 3:30 p.m. ET SEC on CBS matchup. The Vols are coming off a 63-6 win over Akron, and they have now covered the spread in all three of their wins this season. Should you be backing them with your Week 4 college football bets?

Another marquee game on the Week 4 college football schedule features No. 21 Wake Forest hosting No. 5 Clemson. The Tigers, who are coming off a 48-20 win over Louisiana Tech, are 7-point road favorites in the Week 4 college football spreads. Top college football predictions for Week 4

One of the college picks the model is high on in Week 4: No. 22 Texas (-6.5) goes on the road and covers against Texas Tech in a 3:30 p.m. ET matchup in Lubbock. The Longhorns have had a roller coaster last two weeks, but they have come away with positives from both games. They nearly pulled off an improbable upset against top-ranked Alabama two weeks ago, easily covering the 21-point spread.

Texas looked as if it was going to fall victim to a trap game last week, as UTSA took a 17-7 lead in the second quarter. The Longhorns responded by scoring 34 of the next 37 points in a 41-20 win, covering the spread as 13-point favorites. Junior running back Bijan Robinson rushed for 183 yards and three touchdowns against UTSA, averaging 9.2 yards per carry.

Robinson is facing a Texas Tech defense that is coming off consecutive games against ranked opponents, allowing at least 27 points in both contests. SportsLine’s model has Robinson rushing for more than 110 yards and a touchdown on Saturday afternoon, which is one reason why Texas is covering the spread in well over 60% of simulations.

Another one of the model’s college football picks: No. 7 USC goes on the road and covers the 6.5-point spread against Oregon State in a 9:30 p.m. ET start. The Trojans are averaging 50.7 points per game this season under head coach Lincoln Riley. USC is also playing well on defense, giving up just 19.7 points per game.

The Trojans are coming off an emphatic 45-17 win over Fresno State at home last week thanks to a dominant ground game. Running backs Austin Jones and Travis Dye combined for over 200 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Caleb Williams also scored two rushing touchdowns and finished with 284 passing yards and two TDs. Williams will now look to dissect an Oregon State defense that’s giving up 215.3 passing yards per game, which ranks 10th in the Pac-12. Plus, USC has won four of its last five games against Oregon State, one of the main reasons the model expects the Trojans to cover nearly 70% of the time. See which other teams the model likes here.
