Displaying her prowess, the T-High alumna contributed 23 points to the triumph, building on her impressive performance of 18 points in the semifinal match the day prior.
This victory marks a historic milestone for Hutch CC women’s basketball, claiming their inaugural national title. Smith, a 2023 high school graduate, played a pivotal role throughout the season, starting in all 37 games as a true freshman and contributing to the team’s flawless record.
Originally committed to play Division I basketball with Evansville, Smith redirected her path to Hutch CC, a decision that proved fruitful as she garnered accolades such as Freshman of the Year and League MVP in the Jayhawk conference during her debut college season.
