In November, the esteemed Rock and Roll Hall of Fame welcomed iconic artists, including The Spinners, the late George Michael, Rage Against the Machine, Sheryl Crow, Kate Bush, Missy Elliott, and Willie Nelson. The awards ceremony honored Don Cornelius with the Ahmet Ertegun Award, presented the musical influence award to rock legend Link Wray, and recognized Chaka Khan, Bernie Taupin, and Al Kooper with the Music Excellence award.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is not just an annual ceremony but also a fully-fledged museum, celebrating the pioneers of Rock Music. Founded by Ahmet Ertegun during the 1983 Grammys, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, established in collaboration with Jann Wenner, oversees the museum’s creation and operation.

The inaugural induction ceremony took place in 1986 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, with Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, James Brown, among the first inductees. The Hall of Fame follows a rigorous nomination and selection process, requiring artists to have released their first recording at least 25 years prior. The nominees are chosen by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation’s nomination committee and then voted on by a global body of over 500 rock experts.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame museum, designed by architect I.M. Pei, is located in Cleveland, Ohio, overlooking Lake Erie. Opened to the public in 1995, the 150,000-square-foot museum serves as a treasure trove of rock music history, housing artifacts like instruments, stage costumes, posters, photographs, and original music albums. The museum features an induction gallery with signatures and handprints of inductees, along with an extensive library for those interested in the scholarly study of rock music. Since its opening, the museum has become a significant attraction for music enthusiasts.
