All-Star, managed to play through the injury in Monday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, contributing 18 points in 30 minutes. However, he sat out Wednesday’s win over the Golden State Warriors due to soreness in the hip.
Lue expressed optimism, stating, “I don’t think it’s that serious.” Despite the potential setback, Leonard is still expected to travel to Indianapolis for the All-Star weekend, according to a league source. Meanwhile, the Clippers were also without PJ Tucker and Bones Hyland on Wednesday, both of whom were not with the team. Tucker, acquired in the James Harden trade, and Hyland have been frustrated with their limited playing time, with Tucker openly expressing his desire to be traded before the deadline.
The Clippers hope that the All-Star break will provide an opportunity for both players to reset and return ready to contribute positively in the remaining stretch of the season. They are anticipated to rejoin the team for the game against Oklahoma City next Thursday.
Lue emphasized the value of having competitive players on the team who want to play and compete, even if trade discussions don’t materialize as desired.
