Taking to Instagram, Shakira shared a snippet from the electrifying concert, expressing her gratitude to her dedicated fans. “What an insane experience!! 40,000 of you in Times Square, I have goosebumps! Thank you for such an amazing welcome and for coming to party with me NY,” wrote the Waka Waka singer alongside the video on Wednesday.

Dressed elegantly in a black ensemble adorned with silver embellishments, the Colombian icon kicked off the show with her chart-topping 2006 hit, Hips Don’t Lie.

Backed by a band and a team of dancers, Shakira captivated the audience with performances of tracks from her latest album. She ignited the stage with live renditions of Te Felicito, TQM, Cómo Dónde y Cuándo, and Puntería, concluding the night with last year’s sensational hit, Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53.

The free concert was announced by the three-time Grammy winner on social media just hours before it commenced in The Big Apple. A colossal electronic billboard in Times Square also flashed the announcement, while the event was streamed live on social media platforms for her global fanbase.

“New York! Come join me in Times Square for a surprise performance at 7.15pm. And you can watch online as it happens WORLDWIDE right here on Instagram and at my official site,” captioned the 47-year-old songstress on Instagram.

Released by Sony Music Latin on Friday, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran boasts 16 tracks and showcases Shakira’s collaborations with esteemed artists such as Cardi B, Ozuna, Karol G, Rauw Alejandro, Fuerza Regida, and Grupo Frontera.

Recently, Shakira was honored with a 21-foot bronze statue in her hometown of Barranquilla, Colombia. The statue features a plaque commemorating the singer’s musical achievements and her philanthropic endeavors.
