Virtual reality is the future of online casinos

Interactive entertainment continues to explore more ways to enjoy. Creating games for players is one of those ways. The establishment of gambling houses and casinos later followed it to offer games to a large group of people. Online casinos were later created to offer these fun games to players by using the power of the internet.

People often ask what the next big movement is for entertainment but the answer has always been virtual reality (VR) technology. The only question that needs to be answered is how can this be implemented in a way that is an improvement from land and online casinos?

What is a virtual reality casino?

A VR space is where people control avatars to explore like a game with a first-person camera. They can interact with objects and each other using their controllers. For now, VR spaces are designed for both gamepads and hand trackers.

The latter could help players have a more intuitive experience with the gaming world than the gamepad’s point and click feature. This offers a more interesting experience with Bitcasino games and communication with other players.

Virtual casinos can offer the best traits of both land and online casinos. Players can visit a spacious place with all of the fun games from across the game room while at the comfort of their home in reality. Players could also join a game of poker dressed in fancy attire or fun clothing.

There are many versions of VR casinos so far. Some include simply porting existing games into a virtual video game machine while others create a new version that takes advantage of VR space. A popular version of which is an entire room dedicated to playing one slot game where the players can interact with its levers and buttons.

Why is virtual reality the next big trend for casino games?

In all honesty, VR is still only an idea and there are no other interesting options to consider except for this one. VR’s potential to expand the gambling industry is promising because of many developers working on it such as Sony and Valve. The other prospect that could lead casino gaming is pay-to-earn games (P2E) which is more sustainable in terms of system demand.

Most samples can be mistaken for indie-developed games because rendering CGI for VR platforms needs more power than their browser-based counterparts. Most developers are opting for a stylistic approach for three reasons: the first is that the most successful VR games are stylized. The most popular of which is VRChat on Steam which features a mix of cartoon and anime-style 3D art.

The second reason is that realistic CGI will be cost-heavy or impractical for now. The extent of its attempt will only result in an uncanny art style. The last reason is for readability since a simplistic shape with vivid colours is easier to recognize than poorly rendered textures. Stylistic expression also helps welcome creativity from people called builders. They are people who aim to create objects in the world such as buildings, mechanics, and ambience.

Who is currently leading this development?

There are a few companies that are performing beta test runs in their home countries. Canada, the United States of America, and Japan have their respective vision for what VR casinos would look like. The most promising company to take on this task is Atari and Ethereum-based casino operators.

The current project that they are working on is Decentraland, a VR space based on the Ethereum network. It has working amusement parks, interactive objects, and casino-like spaces. Some of the most popular games on Bitcasino can be found as large amusements in Decentraland. It is open for exploration now but the whole place is still under construction.
