The St. Theresa Titans, reigning champions of the Bay of Quinte and COSSA, showcased their dominance on Day 1 of the Ontario High School “A/AA” hockey championships in Whitby, securing two commanding victories that propelled them into Day 2.

In their first matchup, the third-seeded Titans delivered a resounding 9-0 shutout against the fifth-seeded St. Mary’s of Owen Sound. Evan Erwin emerged as the standout performer, netting a hat trick, while Connor Weido contributed two goals to the team’s impressive tally.

Buoyed by their strong start, St. Theresa continued their winning streak in the second game, overwhelming the sixteenth-seeded Sir Oliver Mowat Collegiate from Scarborough with a decisive 12-4 victory. Deke Osterhout led the charge for the Titans, showcasing his scoring prowess with an impressive four-goal performance. Once again, Connor Weido and Evan Erwin made significant contributions, each adding two goals to the team’s dominating display.

With two convincing wins under their belt, St. Theresa looks ahead to their final round-robin matchup against the tenth-ranked St. Mary’s of Hamilton. Scheduled for Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock, this crucial showdown will determine the Titans’ standing as they aim to advance further in the tournament and vie for the coveted championship title.
