The key to Bangladesh’s comfortable victory was primarily their bowlers, who limited New Zealand to a below-par total on the slightly two-paced Napier surface. Shoriful Islam claimed 3 for 26, while Mustafizur Rahman’s variations earned him 2 for 15 in four overs.

Mahedi Hasan contributed with both bat and ball, initiating New Zealand’s batting collapse with an early wicket and later partnering with Litton to secure an unbeaten 16-ball 19, including hitting the winning shot.

Shoriful Islam, Mahedi Hasan, and Mustafizur Rahman showcased their bowling prowess, causing early setbacks for New Zealand. Shoriful’s early wickets set the tone, with Mahedi playing a crucial role in disrupting New Zealand’s middle order.

Despite a brief challenge in the chase, Litton Das and Mahedi Hasan’s partnership ensured Bangladesh’s victory. Litton’s calculated aggression in the later stages of the innings, supported by Mahedi’s all-around contribution, sealed the win for Bangladesh.

This victory marks Bangladesh’s first T20I win against New Zealand in New Zealand and their first triumph in Napier in three attempts. As the series progresses to Mount Maunganui for the remaining two games, Bangladesh aims to build on this success against the hosts.
