Uncertain T: A Resurrected Icon Shines at the 2024 Grand National Roadster Show”
The 2024 Grand National Roadster Show, held in Pomona, California, stands as the inaugural among the two premier U.S. exhibitions dedicated to custom cars, with the Detroit Autorama following suit. This event marks the occasion for the prestigious America’s Most Beautiful Roadster (AMBR) and Al Slonaker awards, recognizing the finest roadster and non-roadster at the show through rigorous judging.

In addition to contenders for the AMBR and Slonaker awards, the Pomona Fairplex showcases an array of expertly crafted and intricately painted custom cars and trucks across its halls and grounds each year.
While the terms “brilliant” and “outstanding” routinely describe the vehicles presented at GNRS, this year, one hot rod, in particular, garnered a unique acclaim. Uncertain T, a radical Ford Model T recently discovered and dominating the custom car scene in 1965, made its public appearance after more than 50 years. Despite bearing significant patina and requiring restoration, this iconic barn find received widespread admiration, with onlookers expressing favorable accolades.
Uncertain T, a last-minute addition to the roadster show lineup, occupied a straightforward display within one of the halls. It shared the space with a large, modern replica of the box for Monogram’s 1/24-scale plastic model of the legendary car and poster-sized covers of magazines featuring the custom ride.
Although Uncertain T did not clinch the Slonaker or any other judged category at the 2024 Grand National Roadster Show, its return to public visibility marked a significant triumph for both its new owner, Beau Boeckmann, and the car itself, showcasing resilience over time.
From its barn find origins to the spotlight in just a few days, Uncertain T’s legend is back on the big stage. Following its appearance at the Detroit Autorama, the hot rod is set for full restoration, and enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the future of this resurrected icon.
