The total eclipse will make its initial appearance along Mexico’s Pacific Coast at approximately 11:07 a.m. PDT, before journeying across a broad stretch of the United States, spanning from Texas to Maine, and extending into Canada.

NASA reports that an estimated 31.6 million individuals reside within the path of totality, where the moon will entirely obscure the sun. This path will vary in width between 108 and 122 miles, with an additional 150 million people residing within 200 miles of the path of totality.

The duration of the 2024 total solar eclipse will vary depending on one’s location along the path depicted on the accompanying map. Observers may experience the transition from daylight to dusk for up to four minutes and 28 seconds.

The eclipse will commence over the Pacific Ocean and make its inaugural landfall in continental North America along Mexico’s Pacific Coast at 11:07 a.m. PDT on April 8, as confirmed by NASA. Subsequently, the path will traverse Texas and cross numerous states before reaching southern Ontario, Canada. The eclipse will conclude its journey across continental North America around 5:16 p.m. NDT in Newfoundland, Canada.
